Getting started
Sign in, find your way around the client area and place your first order.
- Signing inDiscord is the only way in. There is no password to create. What we ask Discord for, what happens on your first sign in, and how to fix problems.
- What is in the client areaEvery page in the client area and what it is for: services, balance, invoices, orders, profile, roles, API keys and your activity log.
- Ordering a servicePick a product, plan, billing term and location, review the total, then pay through Stripe. What happens between paying and having a server.
Virtual servers
Set up, connect to and run a virtual server.
- Set up a new virtual serverThe four step wizard that installs your virtual server: choose an operating system, name it, pick how you sign in, then let it build.
- Your virtual server at a glanceWhat each page of a virtual server does, where the power buttons are, and which parts of the server you can change yourself.
- Connect over SSHFind your server's address, port and user name in the client area, then sign in from a terminal on Windows, macOS or Linux.
- Connect over Remote DesktopSign in to a Windows virtual server with Remote Desktop, download the ready made profile, and fix the usual reasons a connection is refused.
- Root password and SSH keysGenerate or set the administrator password for a virtual server, reveal the stored one, store up to twelve SSH keys, and change the hostname.
- The console in your browserReach the screen and keyboard of a virtual server from the client area, without SSH or Remote Desktop, even when the network inside it is broken.
- The firewallChoose which ports reach your virtual server, apply a tested preset, write your own rules, and get back in if you lock yourself out.
- Always allowed addressesPut your office, your home connection or a monitoring service on a list that reaches your server before the firewall rules are read.
- Attack protectionStandard protection is on from the moment your server is created. Here is what it filters, and what the advanced switches on the Security tab are for.
- SnapshotsTake a copy of your server's disk before you change something, then roll back to it if the change goes wrong. Eight snapshots per server.
- Reinstall a virtual serverWipe a virtual server and install a fresh operating system. What is destroyed, what is kept, and what to save before you start.
- Change CPU, memory and diskUse the sliders on the Plan tab to give a virtual server fewer or more cores and less or more memory, and to grow its disk.
- Add-onsAttach extra memory, cores, storage, backups, databases or ports to a service you already run, and take them off again when you no longer need them.
Game and app servers
Run a game server or an application from the client area.
- Set up a game or app serverGame and app servers are built for you the moment payment clears. What to do if yours asks for a licence key or another setting first.
- Your game server at a glanceWhat each tab of a game or app server does, where the power buttons are, and how to read the overview page.
- Console and commandsWatch your game server's live output, start and stop it, and send commands the same way you would type them on the server itself.
- The file managerBrowse your game server's files, edit configuration in the browser, upload mods and plugins, and download what you need to keep.
- BackupsTake a copy of every file on your game server, download it, and put it back if something goes wrong. What a backup covers and what it does not.
- Startup settingsEdit the options your game reads when it launches, see which ones are fixed for you, and lay the server files down again from scratch.
- SchedulesSet up tasks that run on their own, such as a nightly restart with a warning in chat, or a backup every morning. Ten schedules per server.
- PortsFind the address players connect to, add a spare port for a plugin or a voice server, and choose which port players use.
- DatabasesCreate a MySQL database for a plugin or a mod, find its connection details, reset its password, and understand the one change a day limit.
- Sharing a server with other peopleGive someone their own access to your game server, choose exactly what they can do, and understand which permissions actually hold today.
- Server settings and file accessRename a game server, switch the runtime a mod asks for, read the resource ceilings your plan sets, and where SFTP access stands.
- The activity logSee everything that has happened on your game server and who did it, including commands, file changes, backups and sign ins.
