Game and app servers

Startup settings

Edit the options your game reads when it launches, see which ones are fixed for you, and lay the server files down again from scratch.

The Startup tab holds the options your game reads when it launches. Which options exist depends entirely on what you run.

Changing a setting

Each setting has its own field, its own hint explaining what it is, and its own Save button. Change the value, click the Save next to it.

Nothing takes effect until the server restarts. The panel says so when you save. Go to the Console and press Restart.

Values are capped at 512 characters.

Typical things you will find here: the server name, the maximum number of players, the world or map name, the game version, the difficulty, a password, a licence key.

Settings you cannot change

Below your editable settings is a section called Set for you. Those values are fixed so the server keeps working on our network, usually the port it listens on and the address it binds to.

They show as name and value, with no field to type in. If you genuinely need one of them changed, open a ticket and we will look at it.

The launch command

Under Launch command you can see exactly what is run when the server starts. It is there so you know, not so you can edit it. There is no way to change it from the panel.

If your mod or your tooling needs a different launch command, email [email protected] with the server name and what you need.

If there is nothing to configure

Some server types have no settings you can change. The page says Nothing to configure and that is correct, not a fault. Everything that type needs is set for you.

Reinstall

The second card on this tab lays the server files down again from scratch.

  1. Click Reinstall the server.
  2. Type REINSTALL to confirm.
  3. Click Reinstall.

The server stops, the files are downloaded and laid down again, and it starts back up.

Your startup settings above are kept. Your backups are kept. But files you changed or uploaded may be overwritten, including configuration you edited by hand, worlds, plugins and mods.

Take a backup first. Always. See Backups.

A reinstall lays down the same template. It does not change which game the server runs, and the panel has no way to change that. If you want a different game, email us before buying anything.

Changing the runtime

If a mod or a plugin asks for a particular version of Java, .NET or the game's own tooling, that is the Runtime on the Settings tab, not here.
