Server settings and file access
Rename a game server, switch the runtime a mod asks for, read the resource ceilings your plan sets, and where SFTP access stands.

The Settings tab holds four things: the server's name, file access over SFTP, the runtime, and a read only summary of what the server is allowed to use.
The server's name
This is the name the server carries in the game panel, which is what you see in the console header and in the activity log.
Type a new one in Name and click Save. Letters, numbers, spaces and . _ - ' ( ) [ ] | # & ! : , + are all fine, up to 80 characters.
Neither of these is the name players see in a server browser. That comes from a startup setting or a config file, depending on your game. See Startup settings.
SFTP access
This section shows three things: the Host, the Port and the Username. Use the SFTP protocol, not plain FTP. The port shown is not the port players connect on.
There is no password here, and that is not a bug. SFTP signs in with the password of the hosting account that owns the server, and we never set one. So there is nothing on this page for you to copy, and we would rather say so than show you a box that does nothing.
The file manager in this panel does nearly everything SFTP does, including uploads, edits and downloads, and asks for no password at all. It cannot compress or extract archives, and it cannot move a file between folders.
If you specifically need a desktop client such as FileZilla or WinSCP, click Ask us for SFTP access and we will arrange it with you.
If the details are not shown yet, the server has not finished being built. They appear on their own. The file manager works in the meantime.
The runtime
The runtime decides which version of Java, .NET or the game's own tooling your server starts with. Most people never need to touch it.
Change it when a mod or a plugin asks for a specific version. A Minecraft plugin built for a newer Java is the usual case.
- Pick a version from the Runtime list.
- Click Save runtime.
- Confirm with Change and restart.
The server stops, swaps to the new version and starts again. Your files, settings and backups are untouched, but anyone playing is dropped for a minute, so pick your moment.
If your server type only offers one runtime, the page says so and there is nothing to choose.
You cannot change the runtime while the server is still laying its files down for the first time. Wait for the install to finish.
Where it runs
The last card is read only. It tells you what the server is allowed to use.
| Reading | What it is |
|---|---|
| State | Whether it is installing, being moved, suspended, or installed and ready |
| Node | Which machine it runs on |
| Memory | Memory ceiling |
| Disk | Disk ceiling |
| CPU | Processor ceiling, as a percentage and in rough cores |
| Swap | Usually off |
| Disk priority | How it is weighted against other servers for disk access |
| Databases | How many you are allowed |
| Ports | How many you are allowed |
| Backups | How many are kept at once |
These are the ceilings your plan sets. If you need more of any of them, add it from the add-ons page. That is applied without a reinstall.
What is not on this page
- Reinstall is on the Startup tab.
- Cancelling the service is not something the panel does. Email [email protected].
- Changing which game the server runs is not possible from the panel at all.
- Transferring the server to someone else's account is something we have to do for you.
